My 2peas Ad Inpsiration page

Here it is. I painted the side using an idea the Juniors at school were using for Art. Screwed up paper dipped in paint for the stalks, folded card for the flowers and leaves.

I truly.......

do not watch that much TV. It's usually just one programme a night then I'm off into my scrapping room or I have been before if it's a later one.
But last night we had the second show of INXS and it was so good. Love those Rock voices and man some of those girls could sing. I can see it's going to get better and better.
Off to complete my Ad Inspiration #5 page.

TV in NZ

The OC finishes again tonight bummer.
Rock Star INXS started last night - looks pretty cool.
NZ Idol is getting good - love Frank - he sang an Usher song superbly - see pic on right.
Survivor Palau started on Tuesday - looks good.
The Apprentice is getting good too.
Greys Anatomy is in its 2nd week and replaced our first season of LOST, can't wait for the second season.
Veronica Mars 3rd week replacing My Wife & Kids and 8 Simple Rules.
Without A Trace started this week replacing Third Watch.
Desperate Housewives - loving this - replaced ER

I don't really watch a lot of TV but I do watch most of these or Emma does.

Back to work

It's the last day of the school holidays, back to school for the kids tomorrow (Monday - we're a day ahead down here) and back to work for me on Tuesday. Man did those holidays go quick. I had a lot of fun creating this blog though.
I have added a music video below (Switch by Will Smith) which takes a minute to load up but it's fun. I think I'll change it every now and then.
What else.... I did my ad inspiration page and added it to my 2peas Gallery (link below) but the scan is terrible. I love the page though, looks great IRL. Have just worked out Photomerge in Adobe Photoshop Elements so will redo some of my scans. It is so easy, I didn't realise. I've been doing it in Paint and had become quite good at it except for seeing a line where the two sides join. In Adode PE you can't see the line. Yay. I was quite excited about that. Small things aye!!

Thoughts for the day

I'm getting used to my hair now. I had a haircut yesterday and the hairdresser said I just need to touch up a couple of patches and it'll be fine.

I am spending way too much time on this computer instead of scrapping. When I'm at work I crave for the time to scrap and now it's the holidays and I have time I can't get motivated. Tonight I'm going to scrapbook. I thought I might have a go at the latest Ad Inspiration challenge on 2peas.

I'm so sick of this wet winter. I loathe winter and long for summer and dry hot days.

Check out this cool site to see what colour profile you are. I found it on someone elses blog.
I love blogs that have links to cool sites.

5 hours to waste

Yesterday I dropped my daughter and her friends off at Botany Downs shopping centre to see a movie and go shopping. I didn't want to drive all the way home to Port Waikato (about an hour) and then come back again and pick them up so I had 5 hours to waste.
I never have enough time to do all my shopping usually so here I had all this time to slowly look around anywhere I wanted to. I had no problem filling in 5 hours to the last minute. The only problem was it is very tiring walking around for 5 hours and I had to have lunch on my own :(
I went to Manukau shopping centre and I tried on clothes at my leisure not in a hurry. I had a long look around Spotlight and found some cool bits and pieces - felt stick on letters, these cute little buttons, rickrack in yummy colours and some very cool leather trim.
I looked at new appliances but decided maybe we can wait a bit longer for those. So a very eventful day was had, and I slept like a log last night. And Emma had a good day with her friends too.

Competition

What is it about competition, any type of competition. It can be so heartbreaking if you don't get anywhere - especially when you've done it before and you know you can do it.
Poor James. He was knocked out early in the surf comp on Saturday and was devastated especially when he knows he can do better and has made finals and won comps before. It's also heart wrenching for the parents who know the same thing. But unfortunately it all comes down to how you perform on the day and some of it is luck. You have 20 minutes to pull off the best surfing you can which is hard if the waves don't come through where you are sitting.
Yes, it can put you off especially if your last comp was just as bad. You get into that mindset that you can't perform on the day, on demand. What can you do about it?
I think you are either a competition surfer, swimmer, any sports person or not. It's usually the same people that always win. And they know they are going to win. How do you get into that mindset? That you know you are going to do well.
I think it's how badly you want something too. If you want something bad enough you have to put yourself out there; be seen, be heard.
My son is a great surfer and I hate seeing his heart sink and he lose confidence in himself.

Oh dear

Weeeellll. While I was at the supermarket yesterday I passed the hair dye shelf and I thought I should have a go at dyeing my hair myself instead of spending a fortune at the hairdressers - since it's the holidays, if anything goes wrong it dosen't matter.
I wanted to be that nice white blonde. The packet looked perfect, but I had doubts whether my hair would go that blonde and instead go a yellow blonde as it has done before. I should have known from the pavlova experience.
So anyway I got Emma to help me and she did it perfectly, everything she's supposed to (she wants to be a hairdresser) and I washed it and dried it and oops it had gone a goldy blonde not white blonde like I wanted but not yellow either a sort of golden blonde which was OK except it was too blonde in the front and now I look like a pale freak.
Why me. So I can't do anything about it till next week cause I have to take James to a surf comp this weekend. I hope it's really cold and I have to wear a hat.

Pavlova

Why can't I make a pavlova. I make a beautiful sponge but when it comes to pavlova I just can't do it.

I had egg whites left over from making this yummy dinner last night. So I thought 'I'll give it another go'. I got all excited cause the mixture looked perfect as it always does if I remember rightly. Put it in the oven, followed the recipe perfectly and voila - look what came out of the oven - we had a pick at the edges as you can see . I was so disappointed. So that's it. I'm never making another pavlova in my life. I really thought I'd done it this time, but noooo.

Sunset Beach

This is why our beach is called Sunset Beach.

Finally

It's the school holidays so I've finally got time to create this blog that I've been dying to start. I don't keep a diary so I thought this would be a great way of recording those things you would put in a diary (not personal of course). And since I'm always on the computer what better way to do it. It looks like fun.
Yes it's school holidays and I had so much planned to do. The days are zooming by and all I've done is scrap - and only one page at that. I was going to clean windows, garden etc, etc, and I feel so guilty cause all I've done is scrap - oh and shop.
I've just been doing baking at the same time as this so don't feel so bad now. Chocolate chip cookies.
So I'm starting this blog today and I hope to keep it up and see if my life is as interesting as it is busy.
BTW yesterday I saved a Kingfisher which was sitting in the middle of the road. I drove straight over it (not squashed) and realised what it was so went back to save it. I picked it up and put it on a pole in the grass but it flew back under my car. Sooo, I had to crawl under the car and get it out again and put it in a tree this time. Poor thing, I think it had either been blown out of tree or stunned or something. I love Kingfishers - my favourite birds. It's not often you get that close to one so of course I had my camera handy and took a photo - not digital though - bummer. Anyway that's the second time I've saved a Kingfisher from the middle of the road. I wonder why they just sit there.
