Catch up - Big Time

Well I have lots to tell really. It's been a month.

Firstly, NZ Dares is finishing up after the next dare. Pretty sad really, but just not enough interest anymore and too many other things going on. Vicky has posted the last dare and it is a good one, so would be really great if lots of people took part. Love to see some of our old darees from way back. :)
Fiskars is doing a photo a day thing on the blog. I've done pretty well with mine, only missed a few days. Here's my fav photo of mine so far.
Also, I'm running the monthly challenge this month on the blog. Check it out. There's a great Fiskars prize going. It's all about Circles and Stitching - create something a bit different with your circles. Here are a couple of LO's I did for it.
Lots of exciting things happening on the Fiskars blog at the moment and coming up.

Check out the monthly sketch challenge on the Scrapbook Studio forum. Here's my LO for it.and here's the sketch, compliments of Basic Grey. ATC's for the latest ATC Dare - houses.

Happy St Patricks Day for yesterday

Yes I went a bit silly yesterday. I stopped at our local dairy on the way home from work and asked our lovely dairy owner if she would do me a mix of green lollies and she said yes of course. How kind of her. She said I was an interesting Mum - I didn't tell her it was just for me and Rob, LOL. I bought lemonade and added green food colour, which I also added to the mashed potatoes and the green cupcakes I made. Talk about green food colouring overload. Probably really bad for you but I had fun anyway.

Numbers, numbers.
This is going very well. All we need now is # 23, 27 & 29. Go check them out here, what a cool bunch of numbers to choose from. And thanks to Ruth (Roo) for adding a heap of numbers recently, to the pool.

This months Qtea kit is so cute, full of yummy doggie, nature goodies. Here is a LO using it.And I love making these little canvas pictures with fabric. Some of the fabric and trims here are from this months and past Qtea kits.
Here is a LO I did for Scrapbook Studio using some new Making Memories papers - Animal Crackers. OMGosh it is so cute. I love the star die cut paper and the animals and letters are cut from another paper. I have been dying to find a use for the little Piggy Tales pigs tales and I found it - check out the close up. I'm going to use one on a card too. All these are in store at Scrapbook Studio and the Bazzill dotted swiss cardstock too - oohh yeah so yummy.

Our latest ATC swap has a 'Sea' theme. Here's a peak at my cards.

More calendar numbers

Penny has added more numbers and days of the week to the group. Wow Penny they are awesome. All we need now are 11, 14, 21, 23, 26, 27, 29 and 31 and we will have a great selection to choose from. So excited to print out my photos.

Here are my ATC's for our latest swap on the Scrapbook Studio forum. The theme is CATS. Mine feature my cat Tink.

And a LO I did for the February daily inspiration on the Fiskars blog. Mine was to find inspiration from something around your home. So I had this 60's wall plaque which jumped out at me when I was looking for inspiration. Maybe it will inspire you or something around YOUR home will. If it does link here on the Fiskars website or here in this post. If you are looking for ideas to get you started on some LO's check out the Fiskars blog for some great ideas each day in February.
Also Jill has set a great challenge for February. Repetition. Check out her goregous sample here.

Check out the new NZ Dare for 2009. What did you learn in 2008.
Here's my LO.
I've used lots of Qtea kit goodness from last months kit.
And you should see this months kit full of yummy Gelati goodness. Can't wait to get stuck into it.
AND we have 2 Feb kits to give away at Scrapcamp, thanks Danielle.
It was beautiful on the beach yesterday (in fact all weekend, it's gorgeous today too). Here's a couple of photos I took, the first one in the morning about 10am and the other in the evening about 8pm.

Happy Waitangi weekend NZ.

Happy Birthday Baby

It's EMMA'S bithday today. She's 17, can you believe it!!

You know I was thinking, why can't I remember every little bit of her growing up, every minute of every day. What she looked like, what she did, what she said. That's why photos are
SO IMPORTANT.
How would we remember otherwise. I wasn't into scrapbooking when James and Emma were little, or I would have recorded so much more.
If you have little ones now, DO IT, photograph them and write it all down, because when they get to 17 and you're remembering what they were like at 7 - YOU CAN!!

Here's a LO I did for her using the Crafters Workshop templates.

And the card I made her inspired by an ATC swap I'm doing with the theme of CATS. That's our pets Rio, Tink and Otis.

Hello February already

Have you checked the Numbers album. You have to sign in to see all the photos. I think all we need are 9, 11, 13, 14, 21, 23, 26, 27, 29 and 31 and some days. Trina and Cherie have been so enthusiastic, photographing numbers everywhere. Awesome!!

Thought I'd share some links. When I come across a cool site, I always email the link to myself or to work to share with the girls, so I went through them and picked out a couple to share with you guys.
If you have a Cuttlebug here is a cool blog with great challenges and tutorials.

Found this lady, cool arty scrapping

and this lady through the Tarisota newsletter

ATC's and other art here

Gorgeous work here

Scrapcamp is coming up soon. It is going to be the best esp with our friend Rach Hosking teaching 2 great classes; but unfortunately it will be our last. I mean are we in a 'recession' or what. I don't know, but it certainly seems to be affecting the industry everywhere. So sad, I certainly hope it doesn't affect too many of the maunfacturers, they just keep bringing out such incredibly gorgeous stuff.

Here's a LO I did last year for the Purple Onion DT call. I love scrapping flower photos, because I LOVE flowers I suppose. Very cool stamps, and easy online ordering too. Thanks for dropping by.

Numbers, numbers everywhere

We're starting to get some great photos of numbers and days of the week in our Flickr group. Check them out here.
Join in if you want, the more the merrier. And it doesn't matter if we have more than one of the same letter or number, it just gives us more to choose from to personalise our own calender. It's very exciting!! I was thinking we could use whole or part of the words for the week days. That would look cool I think and may be easier to find to photograph. As Raewyn said there is a SUN Place in Henderson if anyone lives up that way.

A little card share:
Card 1 using BG Ambrosia
(instore at Scrapbook Studio)
Card 2 using 3 Bugs Home Grown (so cute) and the Crafters Workshop 6x6 Orchid template
(both in store at Scrapbook Studio and are being released at CHA as we speak)

happy number finding

Do this cool Numbers Photo Calendar with me

I LOVE this!!!
I want to make one!!!
SO I was thinking, hhhmmm thats not going to be easy to find all those cool numbers to photograph. I need 1 - 31 and all the letters of the days of the week. So I've been brewing a plan. I thought what if other people wanted to do this as well and we all took photos around New Zealand of cool, funky numbers and letters and grouped them all together and then we could pick the numbers we like and all make our own calender from numbers around New Zealand.
HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE!!
So then I thought I could post it here and see who was keen and then set up a group in Flickr for people to add their photos and I'm sure in no time we'll have our NZ Numbers photo calendar.
HERE'S where the idea originated. They have a link to groups already set up on Flickr with numbers but I wanted mine to be ideally my photos but I soon realised that would be too hard so the next best thing would be photos taken by people I know around NZ.
OK, so who's interested. Leave a comment and if we get enough people I'll set up a group and we'll start taking number and letter photos. Can't wait to get this going and see who wants to join me.

new LO and TTV's

We have new Basic Grey in at work. I did this LO using Ambrosia. Love the designs and colours, reminds me of hippy days. YUM!! LO inspired by this LO of Dina Wakleys. AND, I have just discovered Textures for layering over photos or TTV's or whatever they are called. Much easier then brushes I reckon. Here's a photo I did quickly yesterday, remember this is the first one I've ever done, I just grabbed this old photo to experiment on, LOL, look at James' face. But honestly, so easy, has anyone else used them. I love them already and there's so many on the net for free. Check them out on Flickr.
Have you seen the new Crafters Workshop templates being released at CHA. Oohh my goodness. Check them out here. Esp this one and this one.

My boys birthday and some LO's

A random act of blogging, LOL, because I don't do it much these days and I would like to but I hate doing it on my computer at home. Today I'm at work super early so have a chance finally.

It's James birthday tomorrow, happy birthday dude, 19 years old, whew where did that time go man.
Anyway, thought I'd share a couple of LO's while I'm here.
This first one is a canvas I did for NZ Dares and the start of my obsession with Kobi Yamada quotes particularly the She ones from this book. Here is a link to a list of them. I used goodies from a Qtea kit and Fiskars letter stamps. It is for my scraproom wall when it ever gets finished.
We have a huge range of awesome designer fabrics at Scrapbook Studio now and I wanted to do a LO using this gorgeous floral fabric. I also used the very cool Bazzill Stitchz templates at the bottom there. Yummo and so easy. And another Kobi Yamada quote; also some Qtea kit stuff.
I did this LO for the Qtea March kit and it won me a spot in the SIS TV Catwalk last week. So rapt. Another Kobi Yamada quote too, hehe.
And this LO was a Scrapjack of Janine Langer and was one of the favourites. Rapt again!!!
And this LO of my Dad for the latest NZ Dares to 'scrap a childhood memory'. What a great dare. It made me realise how many childhood memories I need to get down on paper not just in my head and telling my kids, it needs to be written somewhere. We are very lucky to have this dare sponsored by Digital Scrapbook Place.
Lastly, Book of Me month at the Fiskars blog - each day we're posting BOM prompts. Some great ideas for LO's, check them out each day. This LO was for April the 2nd - What did you have for lunch today?
